Krabi Province has stunning landscapes and magnificent limestone outcroppings called karst formations, which are a landmark of the region. About the destination: The Phi Phi Islands are in Thailand, between the large island of Phuket and the west Strait of Malacca coast of the mainland. Ko Phi Phi Don is the largest island of the group, and is the most populated island of the group. MAIN TOURIST ATTRACTIONS - Hin Khao Beach. - Laem Thong. - Lanti Beach. With a population of over 170,000 in the city proper, it is Thailand's fifth-largest city. Located on a plain at an elevation of 316 m, surrounded by mountains and lush countryside, it is much greener and quieter than the capital, and has a cosmopolitan air and a significant expat population, factors which have led many from Bangkok to settle permanently in this "Rose of the North". Chiang Mai's historical center is the walled city. Sections of the wall remain at the gates and corners, but of the rest only the moat remains. About the destination: Sukhothai is a small city in Lower Northern Thailand, most famous for the ruins of the ancient city Sukhothai. The name translates as "the dawn of happiness". The province is located on the lower edge of the northern region, 427 km north of Bangkok. This old city, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991, has been turned into an historical park in which some of its buildings, previously buried under a mass of vegetation, have been restored or rebuilt. At the heart of the park, the royal city, surrounded by triple concentric walls, is home to the major monuments, such as the Wat Mahatat, placed in the centre of the city in accordance with Brahminical cosmogony. Wat Mahatat was founded, according to an inscription, in the early years of the kingdom, around 1240, and extended during the course of subsequent reigns, Wat Mahatat was reserved for the devotions of the royal family. Wat Sa Sri makes a delightful picture, with its elegant proportions and beautiful location demonstrating the aesthetic priorities of the original builders.
